Religious Education - GCSE

This is a developing course, and is proving increasingly popular with pupils. We use the SEG/AQA Christianity A syllabus, in which we examine The Christian Church and Christian views on Contemporary Issues. These units follow on from the Year 9 SoW, and have proved to be popular and successful with the pupils. We have made use of a number of high quality guest speakers and visits

Course Content

The course is a detailed examination of Christianity, and looks at the structure and affect of Christian principles and beliefs on individuals and issues.

There are two pieces of coursework, the first in year 10, and the second in year 11. The first essay is one Abortion, with the second essay being a write up of a trip to Norwich Cathedral, which includes a study of the modern relevance and use of cathedrals. Each piece of coursework should be between 1000 and 1500 words, and counts for 10% of the final GCSE mark. There is one final exam at the end of year 11, which counts for the other 80% of the final mark.
