This
is a developing course, and is proving increasingly popular with pupils.
We use the SEG/AQA Christianity A syllabus, in which we examine The
Christian Church and Christian views on Contemporary Issues. These units
follow on from the Year 9 SoW, and have proved to be popular and
successful with the pupils. We have made use of a number of high quality
guest speakers and visits
Course Content
The course is
a detailed examination of Christianity, and looks at the structure and
affect of Christian principles and beliefs on individuals and issues.
There are two pieces of coursework, the first in year 10,
and the second in year 11. The first essay is one Abortion, with the
second essay being a write up of a trip to Norwich Cathedral, which
includes a study of the modern relevance and use of cathedrals. Each
piece of coursework should be between 1000 and 1500 words, and counts
for 10% of the final GCSE mark. There is one final exam at the end of
year 11, which counts for the other 80% of the final mark.
The GCSE course covers two units, “The Christian Church”
and “Christian Perspectives on Contemporary Issues”.
