Visits & Trips

The Humanities department organises a variety of interesting fieldtrips. In Geography the pupils study coastal erosion, urban change and tourism at different locations in East Anglia. Within RE there are opportunities to visit local places of worship. History pupils visit Colchester Castle, Duxford Airfield, the Battlefields of the First World War and, when in the Sixth Form, will get the opportunity to attend lectures and conferences at institutions of Higher Education. All Humanities visits are curriculum based and all pupils participate.

The Modern Languages department continues its very successful exchange scheme with Antoine de Saint Exupery, a French school in Pouzauges, La Vendee. In May 1998, pupils will travel with the Eye Town Twinning for the ten year Twinning celebrations. There is also a Lower School visit to the Rheinland in Germany to enable pupils to practice their German. It usually takes place in July.

Some activities are designed for the personal development or enjoyment of the pupils. Day excursions such as the Christmas trip to the ice rink and shopping at Peterborough are thoroughly enjoyed, while the sponsored charity walk at Thornham continues to be a highlight of the school year, and is very well supported by the whole school.
