AVCE: Guidelines for the
Layout of a Successful Portfolio |
The following are a set of guidelines
recommended by the department. We strongly suggest you follow these
guidelines, as they will help you to present your work effectively:
1 |
Your work should be printed using a standard font (Times New
Roman, Ariel or similar). It should not be printed in Bold or Italics,
as this makes it much harder on the eye to read. You can use
alternative styles for titles, diagrams or to highlight specific
points within the text. |
2 |
You should use font size 12, or 14 maximum, for the main body of
your work. Any smaller is hard to read, any larger looks childish. |
3 |
You should leave one space after a comma, and preferably two after
each full stop. This is standard typing practice. |
4 |
Your work should preferably be typed in the ‘fully blocked’ style.
This means that you do not indent at the beginning of each paragraph,
but leave a line blank to show that you are starting a new paragraph.
You can chose the ‘semi-blocked’ style if preferred, but you must be
consistent. |
5 |
Each page should have your name and the title of the unit being
completed in the header or footer. |
6 |
Your document should be accurately page numbered. This should be
completed at the very end of the assignment, and can be completed
neatly in pen. |
7 |
Your assignment must include a contents page, a bibliography and a
title page. |
8 |
Your assignment should be handed in for marking in the following
condition:
• |
with all pages in the correct order; |
• |
numbered (faintly in pencil, if you are expecting to rework it
later); |
• |
an accurate contents page and bibliography; |
• |
held together, preferably in an A4 presentation wallet. (Please
do not present your work in a ring binder or with each page in its
own plastic wallet.) |
